A short diagnostic cannot predict whether you will pass - only the real exam does that. It will show you, honestly, where you currently stand.

What the real Physiotherapist licensing exam looks like

Physiotherapists applying to practise in the UAE sit a computer-based multiple-choice examination - DHA exam code PHY5121, delivered through Prometric for DHA, MOHAP and SHA, and through Pearson VUE for DOH Abu Dhabi. The pass mark is 50%, and the result is reported to you as pass or fail only - your score is never released.

The paper is built to a published blueprint, which is why a domain-by-domain diagnostic is more useful than a raw percentage. Your questions above were drawn one per domain across Cardiopulmonary / Cardiorespiratory Physiotherapy, Electrotherapy, Physical Agents & Hydrotherapy, Integumentary, Wound Care & Tissue Management, Patient Assessment, Clinical Decision Making & Differential Diagnosis and 8 more - the same areas the real paper weights.

Before you can book the exam at all you need Dataflow primary source verification of your degree, licence and experience, which typically runs several weeks. Candidates routinely underestimate this and end up sitting the exam sooner after study than they planned. Check where you stand with our free eligibility checker or confirm whether your title even requires an exam using the Prometric exam checker.

You get three attempts in total across all UAE authorities - not three each - under the Unified Professional Qualification Requirements. At roughly AED 880 per attempt, plus the licensing delay each failure adds to your visa and start date, the cost of going in underprepared is not really the exam fee.

What is on the Physiotherapist exam: the full blueprint

The published blueprint splits into 12 domains and 195 testable sub-topics. The diagnostic above samples across all of them, which is why its breakdown maps onto the structure the real paper is built from.

Questions
~150 (single best-answer MCQs); some authorities report ranges of 100-150
Duration
3 hours (approx. 2.5-3 hrs; ~1-1.5 min per item)
Pass mark
60% (SCFHS/DHA typical); some sources cite 50% (DHA PHY5121) and others 60-70% - varies by authority and by cut-score standard-setting

Computer-based test delivered at Prometric test centers (Pearson VUE for some SCFHS pathways). The published SCFHS Physiotherapy Specialist blueprint lists 150 MCQs, 3 hours, 60% pass. DHA (Dubai), DOH/HAAD (Abu Dhabi), MOHAP (UAE federal), QCHP/DHP (Qatar), NHRA (Bahrain) and OMSB (Oman) use closely aligned Prometric physiotherapist assessments but each authority sets its own item count (commonly 100-150), time limit and cut score, so exact logistics MUST be verified on the specific authority's current candidate bulletin. Eligibility also requires DataFlow primary-source verification and, for SCFHS, professional classification/registration before booking. Levels differ (technician/assistant, specialist, senior/consultant) and blueprint emphasis shifts with level.

A worked Physiotherapist exam question

Every question in the diagnostic and in the paid bank is written to this standard: a clinical stem, four plausible options and the reasoning for the answer, with its source.

Cardiopulmonary / Cardiorespiratory Physiotherapy

During assessment of chest expansion, a physiotherapist places their hands over the lower rib cage posteriorly with thumbs meeting at the midline. On deep inspiration the right thumb moves noticeably less than the left. This finding most likely indicates:

  1. ANormal symmetrical expansion
  2. BReduced expansion on the right sideCorrect
  3. CHyperinflation of the right lung
  4. DIncreased right-sided compliance

Why: Asymmetrical thumb movement, with less excursion on the right, indicates reduced expansion of the underlying right lung, which can occur with consolidation, atelectasis, effusion, or pain. Symmetrical expansion would move both thumbs equally. Hyperinflation and increased compliance would not selectively reduce expansion on one side in this pattern.

How to use this diagnostic properly

  1. 1Sit it cold, once. Do not look anything up. A diagnostic you help yourself through tells you nothing. The number you get is only useful if it is honest.
  2. 2Read every rationale - especially the ones you got right. Getting a question right by elimination is not the same as knowing it. The worked reasoning is free above, whether or not you buy anything.
  3. 3Work weakest domain first. The breakdown orders your domains worst-first for exactly this reason. Studying what you are already good at feels productive and moves nothing.
  4. 4Re-sit under full exam conditions later. The real paper is far longer than this and stamina matters. Full-length timed papers are what the paid bank is for.
